A New Year and New Goals
Starting the new year with a brand new list of resolutions and goals we aim to achieve is typical for most of us but what do they really mean and why do we do it?
In general it’s a clean start, wiping the slate clean and taking a fresh look at our situation.
It’s a good excuse to make changes – as if we really need one!
After decorating the house for Christmas it can be quite depressing when taking them down in the New Year, however, isn’t the house so much tidier and clearer when they are packed away? Taking a fresh look around and often leads to making changes in the decor or refurbishment of the house.
…And the New Year is an excellent time to plan for the year ahead..
Does your branding identity need a fresh look?
Maintaining your branding is always important and keeping it up to date is essential. A good branding can last for years but tweaking it and small modifications can keep it alive and ‘current’ for longer.
Resolutions waver after a few weeks or days in some cases, and our branding can wander without realising it too.
- Has your company image got diluted?
- Do all the colours match wherever it is seen?
- Are the typefaces and styles the same across all your media?
- Is your logo sharp and good quality, is it consistent where ever it appears?
- Can you tell if it is all consistent?
- Do you know what it should be?
If you are unsure about the brand specifications, what colour or what typeface it should be, it is time to do a bit of spring cleaning. Without changing the whole look it can be tidied up and put into order for the year to come. Being proud of your branding image and knowing it is all consistent and uniform can inject new life and energy into the company’s outlook.
If you find that there is more wrong with it than right, or your business has changed direction, it’s time to have a completely fresh approach to your brand values. Take a long look at your ‘reason why’, your ‘mission’ and your ‘vision’ and plan out a few new objectives and goals. Only then re-assess your branding. Consider what you like and what you don’t and decide what parts actually work, but keep in mind is about what appeals to your target clients so work out how you want to be seen and what you wish to be known for, it is not necessarily your ‘likes and dislikes’ that really counts.
